Approaches to Islamic Art & Archaeology
Seminars are held on Tuesdays, 14.00–16.00, Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8.
Students will pick three topics on which to write essays
Week 2: 17th October: Islamic archaeology (UB)
Week 4: 31st October: Beauty and the Qur’an (AG)
Week 6: 14th November: Shrines, mausolea, and funerary architecture (UB)
Week 8: 28th November: Islamic aesthetics (AG)

Portfolio of practical work
Portfolio sessions will be held on Tuesdays, usually 14.00–16.00 (check below for exceptions)
Week 1: 10th October Ceramics (UB) – meet in the Ashmolean Museum Lobby at 14.00
Week 3: 24th October Coins (LT) – meet in LT’s office at 14.00
Week 5: 7th November Tirāz (UB) – meet in the Ashmolean Museum Lobby N.B. at 15.00
Week 7: 21st November Article Review (UB) – meet in the KRC Lecture Room at 14.00

Research Seminars are held every Thursday, 14.00–16.00, in the KRC Lecture Room.
