Board Games and Medieval Medicine
Board and Card Games and Public Engagement with Research

Description of the project

Board Games and Medieval Medicine PosterThe Board Games and Medieval Medicine Project is the public engagement element of the Wellcome-funded Literary History of Medicine Project. The project has been generously funded by the Wellcome Trust via their Provision for Public Engagement initiative, and will run from April 2016 to October 2017.

The aim of this project is to examine the viability of using board games and card games as a vehicle for engaging the general public with the outputs of academic research, with the key deliverables being three prototype games on medicine in the medieval Islamic world, alongside a detailed report on the process of developing and testing these games, and an analysis of how effective games of this type can be at disseminating project research.

As part of this process there will be a number of public events by members of the project team, including talks and game-testing sessions. All public events will be posted on this website, so please keep visiting, and do come along and get involved. If you would like to find out more about the project, please do contact us - we would be delighted to hear from you.
